Ikorodu (Lagos State), Jan. 15, 2018 (NAN) Two men; Muhydeen Aregbesola, 19 and Tobi Korede, 20, on Monday appeared before an Ikorodu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for alleged conspiracy and attempt to burgle a house.
The accused, whose addresses were not given, pleaded not guilty to the two-count charge of conspiracy and attempted burglary.
The Police Prosecutor, Sgt. Mary Ajiteru, told the court that the duo committed the offences on Jan. 7 at No. 7, Gbenga Osho at Igboolowu Estate, Ikorodu at 11:00 p.m.
“They jumped into the compound of one Mr Akinsipe Omolayo and tried to break-in, thinking that he had gone to church for a night vigil.
“When he heard the suspicious moves in his compound, he raised an alarm and they were consequently apprehended by the community security men while trying to escape.
“The security men, thereafter, handed them over to the police that night, “the prosecutor told the court.
Ajiteru said that the offences contravened Sections 411 and 406 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the sections stipulate two and seven years imprisonment respectively for the offenders.
The Magistrate, Mrs Adelabu Olagbegi, granted each of them bail in the sum of N50,000 with one responsible surety, who must be gainfully employed.
She adjourned the case to Feb. 15 for mention. (NAN)
