2 jailed for stealing motorcycle in Osun

Ile-Ife (Osun), Feb.  8, 2017  (NAN) An Ile-Ife Magistrate’s Court in Osun on Wednesday sentenced two accused persons, David Atemu, 21,  and Wale Aworinde, 19, to three months imprisonment for stealing a  motorcycle.

The Prosecutor, Sgt.  Sunday Osanyintuyi, had told the court  that the accused committed the offence on  Monday at about  5.50 p.m.  at Agbede Street, Ile-Ife.

Osanyintuyi said that the accused conspired among themselves and stole one Jincheng  motorcycle marked  QN 642 LSR and valued at  N78, 000 , property of  one Kunle Duduyemi.

He said that the offence was contrary to  Sections  383, 390 (9) and 516 of the Criminal Code Cap. 34  Vol.  11, Laws of Osun, 2002.

The prosecutor stated that the accused stole the motorcycle  opposite St Peter’s Anglican Church, Ayegbaju, Ile-Ife, where the owner of the motorcycle  had  parked it.

Osanyintuyi added that the accused took the motorcycle to  a junk yard where a brother to the owner accosted him and he was arrested.

Inspite of the plea of the defence counsel,  Mr Abimbola Ige, Magistrate Olalekan Ijiyode  sentenced the duo   to three months imprisonment  to serve as a  deterrent to others.

He, however, gave the convict  an  option of  N4, 000  fine each. (NAN)
