Lagos, July 10, 2018 (NAN) Two friends who allegedly burgled two shops at night and carted away with goods valued at N2.3 million,
were on Tuesday brought before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court.
The duo of Kunle Opeifa, 21, and Tobi Olaomi, 18, was, however, released on a bail of N200, 000 each with two sureties each.
Both live at Kantagowa Market, Abule Egba, a Lagos suburb, and are being tried for conspiracy, burglary and stealing.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
But Police Prosecutor Raji Akeem told the court that the accused committed the offences on June 28 at Abubakar Street,
Abule Egba, a suburb of Lagos.
Akeem said the accused and others at large burgled Mr Gafar Akin and Mr Adisa Ogunsholu’s shops at mid-night and went away with
their goods valued at N2.3 million.
“The accused stole different brands of mobile phones and accessories valued at N2.2 million from Mr Akin’s shop and also car battery
and a cash all valued at N100, 000 from Mr Ogunsholu ‘s shop.
“They had succeeded but in their escape bid they were caught by the vigilance group while other accomplices escaped with some of
the stolen goods.
The offences violated Sections 287, 309 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 (Revised).
Chief Magistrate Jadesola Adeyemi-Ajayi adjourned the case until July 18. (NAN)
