Lagos, Feb. 14, 2018 (NAN) Two estate agents — Kehinde Oluwakorede and Augustine Abraham — were on Wednesday brought before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court for allegedly defrauding four people of N3 million.
Oluwakorede, 25, resides at Council Bus Stop, Ikotun, a Lagos suburb, while Abraham, 26, lives at Arewa Street, Idimu, Lagos.
The duo is facing a three-count charge of conspiracy, obtaining by false pretences and stealing.
Police Prosecutor Innocent Odugbo alleged that the accused committed the offences between July and December 2017 at Berger on Lagos outskirts.
Odugbo said the accused collected the money from the complainants with a promise to sell some plots of land to them at Mowe, Ogun.
“Since then, the accused disappeared and refused to show up in their office; all efforts made by the complainants to locate them were unsuccessful.
“They were, however, caught by the police after some investigations were carried out,’’ he told the court.
The offences contravened Sections 285, 324 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
In his ruling, Magistrate A. O. Komolafe granted the accused bail in the sum of N500, 000 each with two sureties each in like sum.
He directed that the sureties should show evidence of tax payments to the Lagos State Government and adjourned the case until March 5. (NAN)
