Stealing
Lagos, Jan. 11, 2017 (NAN) Two men were on Wednesday arraigned in an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing two tyres valued at N70,000.
The accused, Joseph Orkpe, 50, and Smith Abilly, 20, both of unknown addresses, are facing a two-count charge bordering on stealing and conspiracy.
The prosecutor, Eruada Victor, told the court that the accused persons committed the offences in Gowon Estate, Egbeda Area of Lagos, on Nov. 23.
Victor said that the duo conspired and stole two truck tyres and rims valued at N70,000, property of one Blessing Felix.
“The complainant discovered that the tyres and rims of her truck had been stolen and found them in the defendant’s possession.
“She then reported the matter at the police station and they were, thereafter, arrested,”
The prosecutor said that the offences contravened sections 285 and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The duo pleaded not guilty to the charges levelled against them.
The Magistrate, Mrs G.O Anifowoshe, granted each of the duo bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties one of who must be a blood relation and provide evidence of three years tax payment.
Anifowoshe adjourned mention of the case until Jan. 16. (NAN)
