Impersonation
Jos, June 29, 2017(NAN) Two dismissed soldiers, Aro Michael, 27, and Anthony Bala, 25, on Thursday appeared before a Jos Upper Area Court sitting in Kasuwan Nama, over alleged impersonation.

According to the police prosecutor, Insp. Shaibu Tambaya, the duo, who last served at the 3 Armoured Div., Rukuba in Plateau, were dismissed from the military over their absence from duty without permission.

“But, in spite of their dismissal from service, it was discovered that they have continued to wear military uniforms.

“We found that they have also refused to surrender their Identity Cards and have been using them to parade themselves as serving military men.

“The dismissed soldiers still go about in the guise of performing official functions. This is a serious crime against the state,” he said.

The suspects, however, pleaded not guilty to the allegations.

The judge, Mr Yahaya Mohammed, ordered their remand at the state’s Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation, and adjourned the case till July 3, 2017 for further hearing. (NAN)
