Jos, July 19, 2017 (NAN) Two businessmen- Yau Ishaku, 46, and Idris Abdullahi, 47, were on Wednesday arraigned in a Jos Upper Area Court, sitting in Kasuwa Nama, for allegedly purchasing a stolen solar battery.
The prosecutor, Sgt. Ibrahim Gowkwat, told the court that on April 15, one Nibras Yahaya, reported the matter at the Laranto Police Station.
The complainant alleged that on March 6, one Abdullahi Bala and Bababginda Bala, of Yalwa-Zngam village Jos, conspired and stole a solar battery belonging to the Yalwa-Zangam community and sold same to Yau Ishaku.
Gowkwat said that during police investigation, Yau Ishaku, the first defendant, confessed to have purchased the battery from the duo in the sum of N18,000 and resold it to Idris Abdullahi for N20,000.
The offence contravened the provisions of Section 317 of the Penal Code.
The defendants denied committing the offence.
The judge, Mr Yahaya Mohammed, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N200, 000 each, and a surety each in like sum. (NAN)
