Brothers
By Teniola Ibitola
Lagos, Feb. 7, 2018 (NAN) Two brothers — Benjamin Fidelis and Ifeanyi Fidelis — who allegedly conspired and stole N30.3 million, were on Wednesday brought before an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.
Benjamin, 22, and Ifeanyi, 27, are facing trial on a two-count charge for conspiracy and stealing.
Both pleaded not guilty to the charges.
But Police Prosecutor Chinalu Uwadione told the court that the offences were committed between 2016 and 2017 at Trade Fair Complex, Ojo, on Lagos-Badagry Expressway.
He alleged that Benjamin, who was an apprentice with the complainant, Mr Patrick Mbah, stole N30.3 million from him through his apprenticeship with him and had been sending the money to his brother, Ifeanyi.
The offences, he noted, contravened Sections 287 (7) and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Section 287 (7) provides seven years imprisonment for offenders, while Section 411 stipulates two years.
Chief Magistrate Oluyemisi Adelaja admitted the duo to a bail of N1 million each with two responsible sureties each in like sum.
The case has been adjourned until March 5. (NAN)
