Tel Aviv, Jan. 5, 2017 (dpa/NAN) Israeli police have arrested two people for allegedly writing inciting Facebook posts against the judges in a soldier’s high-profile manslaughter trial, a police spokesman said on Thursday.

“A Jerusalem man was arrested after he posted “incitement to violence” on Facebook against the three military court judges who decided to convict Elor Azaria.

“The accused who is still in the police custody, is expected to appear in court today,’ spokesman Micky Rosenfeld said.

The police said that a 22-year-old resident from the southern city of Kiryat Gat was also detained for making a similar post.

However, she was released on the condition that she stay off the social media website for 30 days.

“Police units are continuing to monitor social media and respond to threats and incitement to violence connected to the Azaria court decision,” Rosenfeld said.

A military court had on Wednesday found Azaria guilty of manslaughter for the shooting, caught on camera, of a hurt Palestinian attacker after a month-long trial that has divided the country.

The judges and chief prosecutor in the case have been assigned security details by the Israeli army for the coming days amid fears of violence by Azaria’s supporters. (dpa/NAN)
