2 applicants docked over alleged theft of cashew worth N5,500

Abuja, March 5, 2018 (NAN) Two persons, Hashiru Sale, and Saifillahi Maru, on Monday appeared in a Karmo Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, for allegedly stealing cashew valued at N5,500.

Sale, of Impresit village and Maru, of Gwagwa, Abuja, had pleaded not guilty to a four-count charge of criminal trespass, mischief, assault and theft.

Prosecutor Zannan Dalhatu had told the court that Sunday Adoga and Yahaya Ahmed, reported the matter at Karmo Police Station on Feb. 27.

The complainant said that the defendants allegedly trespassed into his cashew farm located at Agwra Across, Abuja.

Dalhatu said the accused persons dishonestly stole cashew valued at N5, 500, adding that when the complainant approached them they beat him up.

Dalhatu said that the offences contravened Sections 348, 327, 265 and 288 of the Penal Code.

The judge, Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq, granted bail to the defendants in the sum of N5,000 each with one surety each in like sum

Sadiq adjourned the case until March 29 for hearing. (NAN)
