16-year-old boy in court for alleged theft of electronics worth N182, 000

Lagos May 16, 2017 (NAN) A 16-year-old boy, was on Tuesday arraigned in an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court, for allegedly stealing two plasma television Gotv and a camera, all valued at N182,000.
The teenager of no fixed address is facing a three-count charge of damage, stealing and conspiracy, offences he denied committing.
The prosecutor, Sgt. Ajayi Emmanuel, had told the court that the defendant and others still at large committed the offences on May 1 at Umoru St., Idi-Oro, Mushin, in Lagos.
According to him, the accused and others still at large, entered the apartment of the complainant, Mr Musibau Tiamiyu, and stole the items.
The prosecutor also said that in the process, they damaged a generator by putting salt inside the fuel tank.
“The accused was caught in the act by the complainant’s neigbour and was apprehended immediately.”
The offences contravened Sections 280, 339 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 (Revised).
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Section 280 prescribes a three-year jail term for one convicted of stealing, while Section 411 stipulates two years for conspiracy.
The Magistrate, Mrs E.A. Azeez, admitted the accused to bail in the sum of N250, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
Azeez adjourned the case until June 13 for mention. (NAN)
