Omu-Aran (Kwara), Jan. 26,  2017 (NAN) One hundred and thirty one (131) new employees under the Federal Government N-Power initiative on Thursday received orientation and counselling in Omu-Aran, Irepodun Local Government Area of Kwara.

The orientation was organised by the Guidance and Counseling Unit, Quality Assurance Section of Irepodun Local Government Education Authority (LGEA).

The employees were those posted to public primary and Junior Secondary Universal Basic Education (UBE)-based schools within the council area.

The orientation and counselling programme, according to the Head of the LGEA Counselling Unit, Mr Peter Aransiola, was intended to acquaint the employees with basic rudiments of their duties.

Aransiola urged the employees to see their employment as a rare opportunity toward contributing their quota to the growth, progress and development of the country.

‘’This opportunity should not be seen by you as issue of another national cake.

‘’This orientation is specifically to acquaint you with the civil service guidelines so as not to run fowl of the law.

‘’From whom much is given much is equally expected,’’ he said.

Aransiola described teaching as a noble profession which seeks to develop humans for development in all fields of people`s endeavours.

Mr Dosunmu Adebisi, the LGEA Secretary, said the N-Power initiative was a veritable tool for solving youths` unemployment challenges.

He said the initiative was also capable of addressing the problem of inadequate teachers being experienced in many schools across the local government.

Adebisi urged the employees to take their duties with all seriousness and maintain cordial relationships with their host communities.

Mrs Mary Agbaje, the LGEA School Support Officer, advised the new employees to always contact the authority for clarification on how to perform their duties.

Mr Adewumi John, the LGEA Admin Officer, advised participants to consider their new postings as a challenge and stepping stone toward a rewarding career in the public service.

Mr Jolayemi Damilare, one of the employees, thanked the organiser for the gesture, adding that the orientation programme had allayed his fears and concern on his new assignment. (NAN)
