President Salva Kiir Mayardit of South Sudan has communicated a written message to General Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan, President of Sudan’s Transitional Sovereignty Council. The communication centers on the state of bilateral relations and avenues for cooperation between the two neighboring nations.

As reported by the Sudan News Agency (SUNA), the message was delivered on Sunday by Presidential Advisor for Security Affairs, Tut Gatluak. He led a high-level delegation from South Sudan in a meeting with General Al-Burhan, which took place in Port Sudan.

South Sudan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Monday Semaya Kumba, stated that President Kiir’s message is a reflection of the ongoing fraternal relations between South Sudan and Sudan.

From the Sudanese side, the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Maawia Osman Khalid, noted that the discussions highlighted the enduring and strong connections between the peoples of both countries.

Ambassador Khalid added that General Al-Burhan instructed all relevant state ministries and technical bodies to actively engage with their counterparts in South Sudan. The focus of these engagements would be on matters of shared interest, with particular emphasis on the energy, oil, trade, and economic sectors, in addition to ongoing political dialogue.

The SUNA report indicated that Sudanese officials received the message positively and stressed the value of maintaining continuous coordination with South Sudan.
