Damaturu, Jan. 23, 2017 (NAN) Sen. Alkali Jajere says improved relationship between the executive and legislative arms of government will facilitate good governance and speedy delivery of democratic dividends to Nigerians.

Jajere, who represented Yobe South Senatorial District from 2011 to 2015, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Damaturu on Monday.

“There is now a growing and better understanding between the two arms of government with regard to policies and direction of this administration towards improving the lives of the people.

“President Muhammadu Buhari needs the support of Nigerians, especially the National Assembly in his determination to give Nigeria an improved economy, security and the anti-corruption crusade.

“There are positive indications this year of a good relationship and better understanding for a collective purpose between the two arms to work for the good of the people.”

Jajere expressed optimism that the misunderstanding and lapses recorded in the passage of the budget in 2016 would not repeat itself.

“There is the need for early passage of the budget to support the economy,” he said.

The former lawmaker said that remarkable achievements had been recorded by the administration to diversify the economy through agriculture.

“There was a great turnaround in agriculture with remarkable economic benefits and food security.

“Nigeria has substantially saved a lot of resources from rice importation while the local content is being developed to boost the economy.

“Nigeria has the human, land and other natural resources to develop agriculture as a major source of revenue.

‘’We must support the Federal Government in its drive to rejuvenate agriculture in the country,” Jajere said.

He lauded the Federal Government for introducing the social investment scheme, known as N-power and the CBN loan programme to artisans, market women and youths to promote small and medium enterprises for job and wealth creation.

According to the former lawmaker, the economic recession is a global problem which has also affected stronger economies.

He, however, expressed the hope that the measures taken by the Federal Government would see Nigeria out of the recession with long term benefits.’’

He called on Nigerians to support Buhari and pray for his good health, wisdom and God`s guidance to enable him to build a prosperous Nigeria. (NAN)
