Ado-Ekiti, Dec. 21, 2017 (NAN) Chief Segun Oni, a governorship aspirant under the aegis of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti , has urged Christians to use the Christmas period to rededicate themselves to the service of God.

Oni, a former governor of the state, made the call in a goodwill message signed by his Media Aide, Steve Alabi, in Ado-Ekiti on Thursday.

“Since Jesus Christ whose birth we are celebrating obeyed the commandments of God, it is important for the Christians to keep his commandments and teach others to do the same,” he said.

Oni, also the Deputy National Chairman (South) of APC, assured Nigerians that things would get better.

He also congratulated Nigerians for witnessing a new lease of life in the country.

“I congratulate all of us that we are alive to see the turnarounds and I want to pray that God will continue to grant us long lives to be alive to see more of it.

“I want to say that next year, from all indices, will be a better year.

“But, I want to beg our people, everybody that has nothing doing now should think of what he or she can contribute to the future of our country.

“If you say a bag of rice will sell for N1,000, he who is not working will have to depend on somebody else to eat.

“We have seen people who turned around their own lives by taking up a challenge. My prayer is that whatever each and every one of us puts our hands to, the Lord will prosper it.,’’ he said.

He advised Nigerians in general and Ekiti indigenes in particular both home and abroad to rededicate themselves to the service of God and obey His laws.

“Our people, especially Christians, should use this occasion when we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ to rededicate themselves to the continuous service to God and humanity as well as total obedience to the commandments of God Almighty,”‎ he said. (NAN)
