Abuja, July 2, 2017 (NAN) Pastor (Mrs)Ada Eboji of the Living Faith Church, Goodnews Chapel, Abuja has cautioned women not to be victims of societal pressures as a result of the current economic downturn.
Eboji gave the advise on Sunday during the thanksgiving service to end the 2017 Sisters’ Convention of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), FCT Province 7 in Gwarinpa , Abuja.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the theme of this year’s convention is: “For such a time as this’’.
Eboji said that the theme was timely as the Christian woman, now more than ever was being faced with so many pressures that contend with fulfilling her God-ordained purpose.
She urged Christian women to create a balance between meeting up social demands and serving God, saying this could only be achieved by maintaining Christian virtues and living an upright life.
“The standard of living has become so high and the demand to meet up the expectation of the society is driving so many people into so many things including crimes.
“The financial demands make people suffer from the get rich at all cost syndrome, the fashion demands, social and family demands also push women to sometimes bow to societal and earthly pressures.
“These times are dangerous in the sense that people who maintain righteousness are in the minority so if one is not careful societal pressure will make one shift focus from God to self.
“ Christian women should however strive to maintain righteousness amidst the current economic recession, high standard of living; shun sexual sins and other abominable acts that are being acceptable in this era,’’ Eboji said.
Eboji said that a woman as a homemaker and potential nation builder was supposed to live an exemplary life worthy of emulation.
She called on women to emulate virtuous and courageous women in the bible like Queen Esther who stood for her people and Deborah who defended and fought for the isrealites.
Pastor (Mrs) Ayannike Rotimi, the wife of the Pastor in charge of RCCG, Province 7, Faith Chapel, called on women to make meaningful impact in the society by standing out of the crowd to defend “what is right”.
She urged women to stand strong as they effectively combine their roles as wives, mothers, nation builder and spiritual responsibilities.
She said that standing strong as a Christian woman meant not allowing challenges and pressures to stop her from being the person she was meant to be.
Rotimi said that standing strong meant resisting anything that would make her do things contrary to their beliefs and the word of God.
NAN reports that the annual three- day RCCG Provincial Sisters Convention, which began on June 30 and to July 2, featured training of women in skills such as baking of cake, soap and creaming making, visitation to orphanage and provision to indigent women tagged:” Dorcas Corner”. (NAN)
